WHO WE ARE

Christopher Hirsheimer and Melissa Hamilton—the women behind Canal House Station—are cooks, writers, and artists. In 2007 they founded Canal House, which includes a publishing venture and a culinary, photography, and design studio. They are the creators of the seasonal cookbook series, Canal House Cooking. Their cookbook Canal House Cooks Every Day received a James Beard Award in 2012.

In 2019, Christopher and Melissa opened Canal House Station, a hidden gem tucked into an elegantly restored 1870s train station on the banks of the Delaware River in Milford, NJ. Their idiosyncratic, modern American cuisine is inspired by local ingredients that are ripe and in season in Hunterdon County, NJ and in Bucks County, PA. They are two women, cooking together, and sharing their love of gathering people around the table to eat good food. They have been nominated twice for a James Beard Foundation “Best Chef: Mid Atlantic” award.

Sunday Dinner is a chance to bring generations of friends and family together around the table for good food and conversation. Let’s make it a tradition. Sunday Dinner is a seasonal 5-course, $95.00 per person prix fixe menu that changes weekly. We love families so—children under five dine for free; and under twelve for $25.00.

Reservations for Sunday Dinner are available on Sundays from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. through OpenTable, or you may request a reservation by email, eat@canalhousestation.com or by calling the restaurant at 908.995.7200.

With prior notice, Canal House Station can accommodate vegetarians and guests with gluten-free restrictions. However, we cannot make any other modifications or changes to our prix fixe menu.

We are a BYOB establishment so feel free to bring your own delicious wine or beer.
